The Mountain View

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven on Earth.

UMW - Mission in Action

On Wednesday, June 19th, Tina Whaley and Virginia Berry delivered to the South Valley Sanctuary over thirty-five pounds of personal hygiene items that had been collected from the church members over the last quarter. The UMW has agreed to coordinate this mission project for the church and will be delivering the donations on a quarterly basis to the South Valley Sanctuary. Please place your donations of personal hygiene items in the blue covered storage box marked “Trial Size Mission,” which can be found in the church hallway. The next delivery will be between the end of August and the beginning of September. If you are interested in visiting and touring the facility next quarter, please contact Lorraine Wilkinson.

South Valley Sanctuary

The South Valley Sanctuary is a humanitarian effort to provide refuge, education and support to victims of domestic violence. The sanctuary can take both men and women into their care. The sanctuary at this time has thirteen bedrooms, with fifty-seven beds and twelve cribs. Every night the sanctuary is full to capacity, with more waiting to come each day. A man or woman is only allowed thirty days per year at the sanctuaries around the state. When people come to the sanctuary, they usually have only the clothes on their back and no cash with them. The sanctuary provides food, shelter and consultation.

Your help is needed!

Amazon Outfitters Vacation

We had the most amazing week! Our church was turned into an Amazon Jungle and 38 riberenos (kids who live along the river) went on an expedition to learn about the one true God.

We learned that God is one amazing creator, one miraculous provider, one powerful healer, one living savior, one Lord of all.

Along the way, we made really cool crafts, sang really cool songs, played really cool games, ate really cool snacks and made really cool friends.

Thank you to all the volunteers. About 50 people helped out in all sorts of ways: teachers, helpers, decorators, registration, snack-makers, cleaners, food donations, supply donation.

God was truly with us on this expedition and it was such a blessing! Can't wait 'til next year!

Rally Sunday

Ready for fall and back-to-school? It’s about that time of year! Get ready for back-to-Sunday-school! We have classes for everyone and on Sunday, August 25th, we’ll have a service at 9:45 to install the teachers and promote the kids. More information on that service to come. You can count on involving food! Please make plans for you and your family to join us.

Volunteers

We have wonderful, helpful people in our church family. We are so thankful for all of these volunteers. Recently, a group of volunteer has been formed to clean the church on a monthly rotating basis. Extra help could still be useful as people are away on business, vacation, or other emergencies. If you are able to help, please call Carole Molyneaux at 568-5129.

Nursery Help

Volunteers are urgently needed in the nursery every Sunday (particularly during the 8:30 service). A rotation list is being compiled to handle the recent increase of children. Please contact Wendy Haden (562-3016) or Betty Ross (733-4157).

Youth Fundraiser

The fundraiser sponsored by Community Club Awards (CCA) has been canceled. I received notification by the director of this program that “Due to the adverse economy, the CCA program has been discontinued.” Thank you to everyone who helped promote this fundraiser by saving receipts and proofs of purchase.

At this time, the only on-going fundraiser for the youth is the Community Partners Card sponsored by Albertson’s. Every time you shop at Albertson’s, have your Community Card swiped by the cashier. Quarterly, Albertson’s computes the total of all purchases by all Mountain Vista customers using the community Card. Out youth will receive a check in the amount of 2% of the total purchases. Cards can be obtained from Patti Chauza for you, your friends and family. The more people helping, the better!

Toy Donations

Thank you for all the toys that have been donated for the nursery. Please be sure before making donations that the toys are age appropriate. Check in the office if there are any questions and donations may be left in the office.

Are you the last to leave the church?
Reminder: If you are one of the last ones to leave the church on any occasion, check to make sure all doors are locked, that all windows are latched properly, all fans are off and all lights are out. Thank you!

Do your part to keep our beautiful church clean! Pick up after yourself.
