Lifeline College and Young Adult Fellowship
(18-35 Years Old)

December 2004 News

Last month Michael Erickson, along with myself, represented Mountain Vista at the Rocky Mountain Conference Young Adult Leadership Conference held in Laramie, Wyoming at First United Methodist Church. We both had an awesome weekend of fellowship with other young adults within the Rocky Mountain Conference plus we had the opportunity to assist the Laramie First UMC during their Sunday Morning Worship Service. Michael was the liturgist for the morning and I did the children's time with the kids that were present. We also assisted in passing out the elements during communion.

The theme for the weekend was "Transformation: The Body of Christ Doesn’t Sit Still." Throughout the entire weekend we were challenged as young adults to bring about change within our personal lives, in our spiritual walk with Christ, and within our churches that tend to be so steeped in tradition. I was encouraged to keep on the path that God has set for my life.

Before Michael and I went to Wyoming for this conference I was very discouraged about Lifeline CYF and how it's declined since we started, but while at conference God gave me a fresh vision for continuing Lifeline CYF at Mountain Vista even though our numbers have been low. It's still a vital ministry of the church and I want it to be available for newcomers to our church, for the un-churched that may come through our doors, for those who have been away from the fellowship, and for those coming up out of the youth group. The main thing I learned during the conference is that success is not measured in numbers and as long as there are young adults at Mountain Vista there will be something at our church for them to be a part of. And if we plan an event and only two people show up, that's awesome.

I will have some pictures up this coming Sunday of our trip to Wyoming to share with all of you guys.
